Installation Project Solar Cell for Farm
10 kW, Lopburi
Update on the 10 kW solar cell installation project for a farm and greenhouse in Lopburi. Utilizing a Microinverter system for maximum safety, helping reduce agricultural electricity costs by over 81,000 THB/year.
(Total panel output 10.44 kWp)
Microinverter HM-1500
(≈ 81,000 THB/year)
It's important to note that kWp represents theoretical peak output, not actual production. In real-world operation, the actual power generated can vary significantly due to numerous factors such as: Weather conditions (e.g., cloudy, rainy), Higher panel temperature, Panel orientation and tilt, Partial shading, Panel cleanliness, Time of day.
Solar Cell Installation Project: 10 kW Agricultural Farm, Lopburi
The PUMA SUNERGY team brings you a showcase of solar energy system installations to support agricultural entrepreneurs. For this project, we conducted an on-site assessment and installed a 10 kW solar cell system on the metal sheet roof of a farm and greenhouse facility in Lopburi Province.
For closed-system farms or agricultural greenhouses, running electricity throughout the day is often essential—whether for EVAP ventilation fan systems, water pumps, crop cold storage, or processing machinery. Installing solar panels is therefore a solution that precisely helps reduce fixed costs and boosts profits for agricultural businesses.
is therefore a solution that precisely helps reduce fixed costs and boosts profits for agricultural businesses.
From the on-site images, you can see that the roof surface is metal sheet, which offers the advantages of a strong structure and easy solar panel installation that sits flush with the roof ribbing. Additionally, laying out the solar panels (18 panels in total) acts like creating a "second layer of shade" for the building, absorbing solar radiation instead of the roof itself. This reduces accumulated heat inside the greenhouse, allowing the farm's ventilation or air conditioning systems to operate under less load, taking electricity savings to the next level.
In terms of safety, we continue to choose Microinverter technology, which is highly advantageous for warehouse or greenhouse buildings because it prevents the accumulation of high Direct Current (DC) voltage on the roof, decisively eliminating fire hazards.
How Much Can a 10 kW Farm Solar Cell Installation Save on Electricity Bills?
The 10 kW system for this project can generate an average of approximately 1,350 units (kWh) of electricity per month, which helps ease the farm's expenses as follows:
- Monthly electricity savings: Reduces costs by approximately 6,750 THB
- Annual electricity savings: Saves around 81,000 THB
The payback period for this system will be approximately 3.5 - 4 years, which is considered very rapid compared to the solar panels' long lifespan of over 20 years.
Break-even Point (ROI) Estimation Graph for 10 kW Project
Estimated Break-even Point based on projected savings of ≈ 81,000 THB/year
For farmers or farm business owners looking for ways to cut costs, you can try to calculate the initial break-even point and solar panel size for your area by yourself.
